Abstract: We define a matrix formalism to analyze the minimum structure of classically scale-invariant effective potentials. We obtain general compact expressions for the minimum direction and the mass matrix, and derive a set of conditions on the running couplings to have a minimum. If these conditions are satisfied at two or more places along the RG-flow, there can be two or more minima, of which we give examples in a toy model.
